SWOON worthy interiors!

Now that we are fully embracing the cozy knits, log fires and Baileys we thought it would be the perfect time to showcase our top 5 interior home decor trends for AW.

Bright and vibrant

It’s all about being brave and bold with your colour choices this season. Don’t be afraid to splash navy onto the walls and add a bright orange sofa into the mix! As long as the darker tones are teamed up with brighter accessories to balance things, you’ll be able to create a wonderfully cosy space. The key colours for the season are burnt orange and shades of green, these earthy tones are just gorgeous and create a really uplifting and comforting space.

Velvet & Leather

Velvet is still a key fabric trend alongside leather this season. We’ll be seeing lots of velvet soft furnishings, whether it be a sofa, armchair or pouffe, velvet gives you tonnes of texture and warmth, and if you’re brave enough to step away from the neutrals then that’s all the better! Leather will also be making more of an appearance, think studded sofas layered up statement cushions and gorgeous throws.

Metallics

Metallics really is the trend that keeps on giving as we see it still very much at the forefront for AW across both furniture and accessories. We adore the way metallic home accessories add a sophisticated look to a room and teamed up with the darker walls it works a dream! Swoon and Audenza Home have some stand out metallic pieces to really create that wow factor.

Dark Wood

There is definitely a big shift away from the light bleached Scandi style woods into the walnuts, mahogany and dark oaks. These darker tones create depth, warmth and a much cosier feel. Swoon, and John Lewis have a great mix of classic and on trend pieces, add some metallic accessories and ‘voila’, you’ve created a stunning look with maximum impact.

Show stopping front doors

The brighter the better – statement doors are on the up. If you’re not quite brave enough to paint your door though, a bright door mat or plant could do the trick! We anticipate yellow and shades of purple to be the most popular colours of choice, although we are still partial to a bit of pink too. Painting your front door is a great and relatively  inexpensive way to add a bit of colour to your house and it’s sure to bring a smile to passers by too. We are totally in love with this trend and have our paint brushes at the ready!

Yours happily,

Eka

Hi there! Introducing EKA….

Hi my name is Katie, and welcome to the world of EKA.

I know just as much as anybody that no matter who you are, it’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life – not stopping to notice the little things, or show how much we appreciate the people we care about. Sometimes all we need is an excuse to just stop and relax.

After years of working in the fashion and gifting industry and chasing around after my two small children, I wanted to create my own brand to help people celebrate the simple things in life, and make them smile.

For me, something that will never fail to make me smile are my friends and family. With my family connections to India (my husband Steve is half-Indian), I named my brand EKA – it means ‘one’, ‘unified’ and ‘unique’ in Sanskrit. Every family and every friendship is unique, and I wanted to capture that.

The next step was creating my scented candles. It was important to me that they were made of only quality, natural ingredients that I’d be proud to talk about. All of EKA’s candles are made from clean-burning soy wax with a pure cotton wick, and are completely vegan and cruelty – free. For the fragrances, I hand-picked a collection of scents that each made me happy in a different way, with one to suit any mood or personality.

However I wanted my candles to do more than just smell nice. I love it when I can customise a gift, or find something with a quote or a message that I can relate to. I’d had trouble finding this combination of high-quality ingredients with a personal touch, so I made every one of EKA’s candles customisable. You can pick your scent, and pick your sentiment. It’s a gift I’d love to give, and love to receive.

I really hope that EKA candles can help you find a moment to stop and smile – even if only for a few minutes in the day.

Yours happily,

Katie x
